Action Family Zone To Host Drug Symposium

With more than a dozen Santa Clarita youth dying this year to drugs, Action Family Counseling is holding a powerful symposium on Thursday, November 29 at 7 p.m. The event will be held at the Action Family Zone, on the corner of Soledad Canyon and Ruether Avenue in Santa Clarita.
Last month we lost another gorgeous young kid to an apparent heroin overdose,” announced Cary Quashen, founder of Action Family Counseling and Action Parent-Teen Support Group. “That’s over a dozen Santa Clarita teens and young adults. Twenty-two-year-old, Carlie Coulter is just the latest heartbreak we’ve had in our valley this year. It’s an epidemic right now. We as a community have to take a stand. Enough is enough. Not one more.”

“Tell It Like It Is” will share what every family needs to know about drugs in the Santa Clarita Valley.

“When we lose a kid, we often feel so helpless,” Quashen said. “Our symposium will share what loved ones can do to assist and allow them to recognize the signs before it’s too late.”

The event is free to all Santa Clarita residents. Experts will share where the drugs in our valley are coming from, what they look like, where they are hidden, the signs of drug use and what we can do to help.

“We created the Action Family Zone to give families a safety net,” Quashen said. “The Zone is a place for kids to hang out after school, for families to attend workshops like this drug symposium and a place for our community to rally and say we are not going to lose one more kid.”

All activities at the Action Family Zone are free to all Santa Clarita residents. Action Family created the Zone as a gift to our Valley. For further information, click here or call Bob Sharits at 661-309-0094.
