Early Friday morning a small group of burglars were well on their way to making off with money and merchandise from Beyond Harmony Med Spa. Unfortunately for them, a Santa Clarita deputy acting on a hunch sent them running.

Around 1:00 a.m. Deputy James Callahan was patrolling along Soledad Canyon Rd. near Shangri La Dr. when he noticed something peculiar. While passing a shopping center he reportedly noticed a man outside the back of a business. Following his hunch, he pulled into the parking lot and noticed that the window had been broken at Beyond Harmony Med Spa.

No perpetrators were in the business by the time he had arrived, and evidence suggests that they were quickly driven away by his presence. A bag with cash and other valuable items was found by the door, placed at the ready.

While a few blank company checks were missing, nothing of major substance was stolen. According to Beyond Harmony owner Rosemary Murphy, the deputy is a hero.

“If it hadn’t been for deputy Callahan, this would have been a lot worse,” she told KHTS.

Aside from a large piece of wood covering their broken window, the spa was back in business Friday and services were running as usual.
