Monday was a busy day for sheriff’s deputies as alert citizens helped them put seven people behind bars for residential burglaries.

In the 27400 block of Westover Way in Valencia, an alert neighbor noticed some odd behavior, dirt bikes stacked near a car on her street and a person she didn’t recognize. She called the Sheriff’s station and deputies responded and found property stacked in the driveway of one of the homes on the block.

As they began their search for a suspect, they saw three men piling more property in the driveway. When deputies approached, the men fled into the house, leaving a television and a backpack containing three laptop computers unattended in the driveway.

Deputies found seven people in the home and arrested four on suspicion of burglary. Two of the suspects were friends of a teenager who was left to care for the home in her parents’ absence.

Adam Paspates, 21,and Matthew Booth, 19, both of Valencia; Richard Cleversley, 19, of Canyon Country and a 17-year-old from Valencia were all booked at Santa Clarita Valley Station and the three adults are being held on $50,000 bail each. The juvenile was transported to Sylmar Juvenile Hall.

On the other side of town, a woman returning home entered her condo in the 27900 block of Solamint Road and saw a man on the balcony. She immediately hid inside the home and called 9-1-1.

As deputies were responding, she heard the man enter her house. She remained calm and provided information to the sheriff’s dispatcher. Deputies arrived and caught two suspects outside the home, one suspect inside the home and a fourth suspect, who was seen running from the home, was caught a short time later.

Four male adult suspects were arrested on suspicion of burglary, they included an 18-year-old resident of Palmdale, a 21-year-old resident of Canyon Country, a 19-year-old resident of Canyon Country, and a 19-year-old resident of Lancaster. Their names are not being released pending further investigation.

They were transported to and booked at Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, where they are all being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
