Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project holds poker fundraiser

On Saturday, September 12, the Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project is holding the Third Annual Texas Hold ‘Em Not Hassle ‘Em Poker Tournament at the TPC Valencia.  Winners of the tournament will receive trips, airline tickets, and gift certificates.

Along with playing poker, guests will also have the opportunity to participate in a silent auction and bid on VIP tickets to Jimmy Kimmel LIVE, movie baskets, sporting events, and autographed posters.

“We are so excited for our Third Annual Hold ‘Em Not Hassle ‘Em Tournament,” stated Kim Goldman, executive director of the SCV Youth Project.  “Poker is a fantastic way to get the community together for a little bit of fun, while supporting such an important cause.”

Depression, suicide, and drug abuse are only a few of the challenges teens constantly combat.  The number of issues junior high and high school students face seems to increase each year and many don’t know where to turn.

Working with teens on twelve different middle school and high school campuses in Santa Clarita, The Youth Project aims to provide an outlet for students, counseling them through an array of situations.

Last year, the Youth Project raised more than $30,000 from the fundraiser and they hope that this year’s tournament will enable them to help even more teens.

Tickets for the tournament are $125 and tickets to watch the game and participate in the silent auction are $40.  Sponsorships range from $500 to $5,000.

The silent auction begins at 5:00 p.m. and the tournament starts at 6:00 p.m.
