“American Idol, Season 7” star Brooke White will kick off the 2nd Annual Castaic Relay For Life, at Castaic Lake March 31 at 10:00 a.m. White will be performing some of her original music and hold a meet-and-greet afterwards where fans can have their photo taken with the singer.
The Castaic Relay For Life is a 24-hour event (beginning 9:00 a.m. on March 31 until 9:00 a.m. on April 1) meant to increase cancer awareness in Castaic while raising much needed funds for the American Cancer Society’s programs and services.
Teams comprised of up to 12 people formed by local businesses, community groups and individuals raise funds before the event. Team members camp out at the relay site, and when they are not taking their turn walking, they take part in fun activities and enjoy local entertainment.
“Relay For Life brings the progress against cancer to the forefront,” said Debbie Schultz, Event Chair. “Many participants are our family, friends, and neighbors who have dealt with cancer themselves. Their involvement is proof of the progress that has been not only reducing death rates, but also in the quality of life following cancer treatment.”
