The Newhall American Legion Post 507 partnered with the SCV Chamber of Commerce Thursday to host the Sgt. Ian Gelig Memorial Scholarship fundraiser to benefit a local veteran with a $2,000 scholarship to assist in attending college.

 Keynote speaker Dennis Kuewa discussed many of the U.S.. Department of Veteran Affairs funded programs to aid businesses in hiring and and retaining employees that are veterans.

Applications for this scholarship are available online and applications are available beginning in the fall and ending in the spring on the following year.
