Angeles Forest Gets New Deputy Supervisor

Thirty-year civil servant named to new responsibility.

 

Smokey Bear has a new boss in the Angeles National Forest.

Marty Dumpis, a 30-year veteran with the Forest Service, was named the new Deputy Forest Supervisor on Tuesday by Supervisor Jody Noiron.

Dumpis was most recently the Recreation and Lands Staff Officer for the Angeles, where he was in charge of recreation and wilderness management, archaeological resources, special use permits and landscape architecture. From 2001 to 2007, he served as District Ranger for the San Gabriel River Ranger District.

He began his career with the Forest Service in 1978 and throughout the years has worked in national forests in Nevada, South Dakota, Idaho and Oregon. He has also worked as a Division Chief of fire management on the Six Rivers National Forest in northern California.
