If you’re looking to give back during the holiday season, the annual Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Toy Drive provides the perfect outlet. The event begins tomorrow and will run from 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Power Honda Valencia.
Thursday’s launch will also feature choral and orchestral pieces performed by local schools. SCV residents are encouraged to come with friends and family, drop off a toy, and enjoy the festivities.
Performances include:
- West Ranch High School 4:30-4:45 p.m.
- Hart High School 4:55-5:20 p.m.
- Leona Cox Elementary 5:20-5:45 p.m.
- Monticello Preparatory 5:45-6:10 p.m.
- Sulphur Springs Elementary 6:10-6:35 p.m.
- Canyon High School 6:35-7:00 p.m.
- Golden Valley High School 7:00-7:20 p.m.
KHTS AM 1220, Power Honda, and the Sheriff’s Department are sponsoring the event, which receives donations from several residents, businesses, volunteer organizations, and many of the Valley’s school districts. Their generosity allows less fortunate families to share in the same holiday spirt enjoyed by most residents in the community.
Now in its seventh year, the Toy Drive remains unique in its operation. Parents are first given vouchers to shop for loved ones at the virtual store. Instead of simply receiving a toy at random, these parents actually have choices when looking for that special gift. While the parents take their pick of toys, bicycles, and gift cards, the children will have time to chat with Santa and watch his helpers at work.
