Another Villain Takes Guests On A Ride At Magic Mountain

gallery_LexLuthorDOD1In spring of 2012, the world’s tallest vertical drop ride will open in the park that has more thrill rides than any other park in the country, Six Flags Magic Mountain.

“Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom” is not only named after one of DC Comic’s most dangerously intelligent super-villians and Superman’s greatest enemy, but is also an integral part of the Superman experience.

You see, the Drop of Doom is attached to both sides of the iconic Superman: Escape from Krypton tower. While you’re rushing towards Earth, you and your fellow riders will experience the thrill while Superman: Escape from Krypton cars are blasted to the top of the same towering structure.

Riders will sit inside a floorless gondola on one of two vertical tracks flanking each side of the Superman: Escape from Krypton tower. The cars are then pulled to the top of the 400 foot tower, experience a brief pause then drop at speeds of up to 85 mph.

After the five second freefall, you’ll be stopped by a sophisticated magnetic braking system just a few feet from the ground.

Or maybe, the raised hand of the Man of Steel himself.
