Southern California high school students will have the chance to win a $2,000 college scholarship by entering an essay contest sponsored by the national anti-bullying initiative No Snap Judgments.
The contest coincides with the Los Angeles premiere of the Broadway musical “The Addams Family” at the Pantages, where the company has partnered with Time Warner Cable Media and Browning Mazda

Interested students may write and submit essays online at www.twcmedia.com/nosnapjudgments. The goal of the contest is to encourage students to look beyond first impressions and discover how our commonalities outweigh our differences. Through the lens of “The Addams Family,” the No Snap Judgments program empowers youths to engage others with openness, respect and acceptance.
Essays need to be written in 400 words or less, exploring one of the themes of the Addams Family Musical: facing fears, defining normal, or making snap judgments. One student will be selected from the entries submitted, and will be given the scholarship award on June 12 at Pantages Theater at a pre-show reception for them and their family and friends
“The Addams Family” will have a limited 2 week L.A. premiere engagement at the Pantages Theatre from June 5 – 17. Students are also encouraged to take the No Snap Judgments pledge on the campaign webpage and download a printable certificate, pledging to be a respectful and positive person. With their pledge, students recognize that each person is unique and in some ways different, but that what we all have in common is much more important. They pledge to celebrate the differences among friends, family, teachers and peers, and do their best to learn from them. By taking the pledge, students will be more accepting of each person they meet and make no snap judgments about them.
