Victims' families reach out to help prevent further violence toward youth in community.
A rally to bring awareness of street violence and offer some help to victims and their families organized by supporters of murder victim Josh Pipho will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Route 66 restaurant on Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country.
The rally will feature music and will also serve as a fundraiser for the Pipho family, who will share some of the proceeds with Victims of Violent Crime. Route 66 will donate a portion of the food sales and a raffle will be held.
Pipho was killed Nov. 24 in a fight in Stevenson Ranch. His friend, Chad White, was also seriously injured and faces a long rehabilitation. Shortly after Pipho’s death, a drive-by shooting on Arch Street took the life of Bryan Miranda as he visited with friend Jose Valdez, who was also shot, outside a house on Arch Street in Newhall. And Tuesday afternoon, a man was shot on Lone Rock Street in Canyon Country by a group of Hispanic men shouting gang slogans before gunfire erupted.
Raffle prizes are still being solicited and sponsorship opportunities are available. For further information, call Todd Rogers at (818) 317-1167.
