To reduce public assistance fraud, the Board of Supervisors directed the Chief Administrative Officer to convene a task force to develop an inter-agency database to cross-check and identify repeat perpetrators of fraud, on a motion by Los Angeles County Mayor Michael D. Antonovich.The information network between the Department of Children and Family Services and the Department of Child Support Services with direct links to the District Attorney, County Counsel, the Chief Information Office and the Auditor-Controller will alert County Departments of fraudulent activity. 

                       

The task force will report back to the Board of Supervisors by May 2, 2006, on the feasibility of such a database, including grants from the Productivity Commission for a pilot project.
