Measure R is “Robin Hood in reverse” – it takes from the
poor and gives to the rich. Taxpayers from across the County are being
rolled by the downtown Los Angeles
special interests to fund the costly multi-billion dollar subway to the sea.
Crafted in the heat of the night by Mayor Antonio
Villaraigosa without input from elected officials outside the City of Los
Angeles, Measure R denies – for the next 30 years —
taxes generated by the nearly 7 million people in the Gateway
Cities, the San
Gabriel, Pomona,
San Fernando, Santa Clarita and Antelope
Valleys for their vital public
transportation needs.
Our County must invest in a regional transportation plan –
but Measure R is an unfair tax scheme that funnels billions of tax dollars away
from vital regional projects. It is OPPOSED by three members of the Board
of Supervisors, many of our 88 cities, and elected officials from across the County.
