600th pet for adoption marks weekly display.
Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich presented the 600th shelter pet for adoption, “Bucky” a 12-week old terrier mix, at the Board of Supervisors meeting on May 8, 2007.
Each week at the Board meeting, Supervisor Antonovich showcases a pet in need of a home from one of the six County Animal Shelters. Information is provided about the animal, including the sex, breed and age and a telephone number is given son that anyone interested in adopting the animal can call to obtain more information.
Since 1995, 100% of the animals featured, including dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, and a guinea pig have been placed in new homes, with more than 325 county employees adopting pets through the weekly pet presentation.
Supervisors Antonovich and the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control encourage you to adopt a pet from your local County shelter. All rescued animals and those up for adoption can be viewed on the County website: http://animalcare.lacounty.gov
