Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich will host a “Contracting Connections” workshop at 9:30 a.m. August 12 to inform small businesses about purchasing and contracting opportunities with local, state, and federal agencies.

The workshop will be held at Antelope Valley College and is open to all small business owners and contractors wishing to do business with the government. For more details, go to hometownstation.com

“Small businesses are the engine of economic growth and the backbone of our society,” said Antonovich.  “In 1997, the County determined that too many of its contracts were going to the same companies – most of them large corporations,” said Antonovich.  “To address the cost-effectiveness of these contracts and the problems facing entrepreneurs and smaller companies, my office initiated the County Office of Small Business.” The Office of Small Business serves as a source of information on procurement opportunities, certification, financing, and technical assistance for small business owners.

“We will continue to ensure the County’s procurement systems remain fair, open, and easily understood,” added Antonovich.  “We look forward to working with our small businesses to create effective public-private partnerships that serve our community and improve our quality of life.”

Antelope Valley College is located at 3041 West Avenue K, Lancaster, 93436.
