Total Financial Solutions President/CEO Arif Halaby recently offered his insights on how he believes God relates to your finances during KHTS Radio’s “Total Financial Solutions Safer Money Hour.”

Halaby, a Certified Estate Planner, was joined by Barak Lurie, author of the recently released “Atheism Kills: The Dangers of a World Without God – And Cause for Hope,” for the last show of the year on Tuesday.

“What is the thing that runs through everything we do?” Halaby said at the start of the show. “In my opinion, it’s your values and your morals. And where do you derive those from?”

Halaby pointed out that the basic human rights so important to many Americans today did not come from the United States government itself, according to the country’s founding fathers.

“The Constitution, the Declaration of Independence actually clearly states that those rights are divine — that means they come from God,” he explained. “They’re inalienable. It’s very important.”

Because knowledge is at our fingertips today through the internet, Halaby believes that the only reason we aren’t all wealthy and powerful is because of the way we use that knowledge, which he tied back to God.

“It’s simple, because it’s the proper use of the proper knowledge,” he said. “For financial (things), it comes right back down to: What is your philosophy?”

Lurie pointed out that in his experience, it seems that atheists tend to have less financial success than those who follow God.

“Those with God, especially my devout Jewish friends and devout Christians, they somehow make it — they find great ways to accomplish things,” he said. “Why? … Because they understand they want to do things for the glory of God.”

He continued, “So when a mistake happens or they fail in a business, they learn from it — they want to learn from it. Whereas the atheist says, ‘Well, life sucks and somebody owes me something. The government should give me a welfare check or an unemployment check.’”

Halaby seconded this, adding that the primary reason he believes most people immigrate to the United States and find success in their careers is because they are finally allowed the religious freedom to follow God.

“Those people that came here, came here because they couldn’t follow God there,” he said. “If you have a God-centered life, you tend to take responsibility and feel that there’s this overwhelming responsibility for other mankind.”

Lurie concluded, “If you want to succeed in life financially … the very first step is, make sure to embrace God, understand that God is real, God is everywhere, God is in charge. And when you adopt that approach, you also adopt the approach of responsibility. You will see clearer, you will understand the opportunities out there better than you could without God.”
