An armed robbery occurred at approximately 10 p.m. Tuesday near Canyon Park and Jason Drive in Canyon Country.

According to Sgt. Wright of the Santa Clarita Valley station, a suspect described only as “a rather large white adult male wearing a mask” brandished a handgun and took the victim’s backpack, which allegedly contained $1,800 worth of jewelry.

The suspect fled the area with the backpack and is still at large.
