Arrests Made In Canyon Country Woman’s Death

khts_crimeTwo arrests were made Thursday afternoon in the case of the death of Rosemary Flynn, a 21-year old woman who died July 31 after a night of karaoke at a popular Canyon Country night spot.

Flynn’s boyfriend, Bryon Murray, 28, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and Brianne Gill, 24, was arrested as an accessory.

Both were booked at the Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s station, each held on $50,000 bail. Murray posted bail, but Gill is still in custody.

According to Detective Ron Duval of the Sheriff’s Homicide bureau, Murray called paramedics when he woke up that morning and found that Flynn was not breathing. Paramedics responding  declared Flynn dead in the couple’s Jake’s Way complex apartment.

“His original statement was that the two of them had been drinking at Bergie’s, a restaurant at Sand Canyon Road and the 14 freeway and that she was extremely intoxicated. They left when the bar closed, but there was no parking at their apartment, so he dropped her off near a gate on Jake’s Way adjacent to their complex.”

Duval said that Murray told deputies that Gill was with them and said Flynn was sitting on the sidewalk, but had fallen over into the street and hit her head.

“The two of them had to carry her to the apartment because they thought she was intoxicated and they put her to bed,” he said.

The Coroner issued a cause of death for Flynn, saying she died of blunt head trauma and initially ruled it accidental, but the subsequent investigation has revealed evidence to the contrary, prompting Thursday’s arrests.

“We have witness testimony that the boyfriend (Murray) and girlfriend (Flynn) were involved in an altercation at the gate and he was attempting to leave in his truck,” Duval said. “She jumped up onto the driver’s door and when he did a u-turn, she fell off the truck and hit her head.”

Duval said Flynn was still conscious when she was carried by Murray up to the apartment, but he did not summon help for her injuries. He added that video from Bergie’s placed Gill still at the restaurant during the time of the accident.

Murray and Gill are scheduled to appear in San Fernando Superior Court on Monday.
