The Santa Clarita Artists’ Association will host their annual fundraiser at COC

 

[view:node_ad=5]On October 13^th, at 6:00 p.m, residents are invited to attend the annual “Art Classic” which will feature over 120 works of art, created by locals.  Courtesy of Mama’s Munchies, Leona Valley Winery, and Babe’s Dessert Bar, guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, fine wine and delicious desserts. 

 

Hosting the event will be Santa Clarita’s Mayor Pro Tem, Bob Kellar along with auctioneer Don Fleming, who will auction off artwork in both a silent and live auction that night. 

 

After noticing the lack of art displays here in the Santa Clarita Valley, the Santa Clarita Artists' Association was formed.  Media contact Sandy Fisher says that art has taken the back seat in most people's lives.  "Art develops an imagination, a creative mind, and a chance to express yourself, and you don't see that anymore." 

 

Oil, watercolor, sculpture, and digital photography are only a few among the various types of art to be displayed that night.  The pieces will exhibit a mixture of realism, abstract, figurative, wild-life, and still life styles and subjects.

 

The event will feature both visual and performing arts with musical entertainment provided by a trio from the Santa Clarita Symphony, and the jazz trio RGB.  At the end of the evening, awards will be given to the best artwork in each category. 

 

The Santa Clarita Artists’ Association welcomes all local artists who wish to display their works.  Their members range from children to senior citizens, from hobbyists to professionals.  They hold monthly meetings, where they hold a demonstration, and announcments.  Throughout the year, the Association displays artwork around town at various shows and events, such as the Street Art Festival. 

 

Fisher says the event is a family affair, and will be a treat for everyone. "Art has a place in everyone's lives, you just have to let it in."
