The reception, which is free and open to the public, features light appetizers and the opportunity for attendees to meet Darling and celebrate the exhibit with other art lovers, according to a news release by the city of Santa Clarita.
“Steph Darling’s work is so amazing and fanciful,” said Jeff Barber, supervisor of the city of Santa Clarita’s arts and events office. “They’re very well-done and she has a great imagination. They really are a surreal kind of art.”

Darling, who grew up in Los Padres National Forest, uses her work as a creative expression of her natural surroundings, specifically plants and animals, and meditates on nature’s connection with people and the language people use to understand that connection through her drawings and sketches, city of Santa Clarita officials said.
“Fantasy Frenzy,” which has been on display at Westfield Valencia Town Center since January 9, plays with words and the images they produce, acting as “a whimsical dream” which winds together what is real as well as imagined and forms the fantasy of a new world, according to the news release.
“Pretty much any subject she’s not afraid to take on, so if you go to the exhibit you’ll see a variety of things,” Barber said. “It’s just so whimsical and playful.”
The reception, hosted by the city of Santa Clarita’s city council, arts commission and arts and events office, is scheduled from 7-9 p.m. March 26 at Town Center Art Space, located at Westfield Valencia Town Center adjacent to Sisley Restaurant.
