Santa Clarita officials are inviting the community out to Thursdays at Newhall for “10 by 10” on Thursday, Sept. 1 from 7-9 p.m

“10 by 10” is a free variety show featuring 10-minute performances such as live dance, monologues, improv, music, comedy and more, and 10 performers are selected each month.

City officials released the following schedule:

The night will start with The New Mexican playing slide guitar with his left hand, lead guitar and banjo with his right hand, and a variety of percussion instruments with his feet. Then, the award-winning actors, writers, and comedians Diani and Devine, also known as Gabriel Diani and Etta Devine, will perform. Live music will follow comedy, as GRIT will perform next.

Members of the Golden Pen Writer’s Guild will take the stage with spoken-word poetry, followed by Scott Marshall’s magic. Marshall is a returning 10 by 10 performer who will be followed by comedian Mike Citera. Performing standup and improv, Citera has entertained throughout New York City and Los Angeles at locations such as Improv, Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theater and Laugh Factory.

Consomme, an award-winning short film written, directed, and produced by Catherine Fordham will follow Citera. Consomme has been featured at the Werner Herzog film program in Germany, as well as Nitehawk Cinema, the Bushwick Film Festival, and more and will soon be available on Shudder, Showtime’s streaming horror site.

More comedy will then be provided by The Brother Monkeys, true brothers John Scalia Jr. and Jameson Scalia.

The last events of the night will be storytelling by Victoria Sayeg who is a freelance writer, poet, director and producer. Music by Nick Goodman will bring Thursdays@Newhall’s 10 by 10 to a close.
