Thursdays at Newhall is back for 2014. This year’s series of arts and entertainment events kicks off with an Art SLAM that celebrates the work of female artists.
Thursdays at Newhall returns in March, with evening events like the Farmer’s Market, SENSES and the Art SLAM that bring art and entertainment to Main Street in Old Town Newhall.

This Thursdays at Newhall season kicks off with an Art SLAM on March 6 from 7 to 10 p.m. This month, the arts event will feature works by female artists in honor of Women’s History Month.
In addition to artwork on display, there will be several demonstrations by local artists.
Mixed media artist Teresa Downer is a San Fernando Valley native and creates her art using recycled papers, fabrics, wire, and other found objects and combining those with acrylic paints to create unique shadow boxes.
She will be working on one of her pieces at the event.
The art of Linda Sue Price, which often incorporates neon lights and different textures of glass, will be on display.
“Texture, layers, transparency, reflection, glow and color are elements I use to create my art,” she said on her website.
Tara Kilbane, who also likes to experiment with mixed media, often to create abstract art, will also be at the Fem SLAM for a live art demonstration.
“Her goal is to connect with people using art as the form of communication,” according to the Thursdays at Newhall website.
There will also be a professional photo shoot taking place and several other art installations.
