The contest and auction is geared towards families and DVC supporters of all ages and will feature hand-crafted “fairy houses” submitted by local businesses, community groups and residents.
Proceeds raised from tickets sales and the fairy house auction will go to support the Domestic Violence Center and their services to women and children.
For anyone who would like to submit a fairy house to be judged, there will be a building party at Savia in Newhall, on Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Everyone from the community is invited to come and begin building their fairy houses. Participants must bring their own supplies and pay a contest entry fee of $10.

Last year, there were 80 fairy house entries, and the breakfast was hosted at the Tea Gardens on Bouquet Canyon Road.
The event outgrew the Tea Gardens this year, said Linda Davies, executive director of the DVC.
“This is a way that kids can just get involved and feel like they’re really helping in the community,” she said.
The goal is to bring some joy into a line of work that deals with tragedy every day, Davies said, but it’s also to raise awareness about domestic violence.
“Domestic violence is something we need to talk about, and yet for most people it’s taboo,” she said. “We want to get people engaged, helping one another and understanding that domestic violence affects more people than most think. It’s also critical for people to understand that while domestic violence may have been a part of your past, with intervention and education, it doesn’t have to be a part of your future.”
Tickets for the Fairy Berry Breakfast are $25 per person and include a pancake breakfast, a silent auction, face painting and treats. Attendees are encouraged to dress in costume.
