Independence Day is right around the corner, and the city of Santa Clarita has a series of events lined up for residents and patriots of all ages.

The Fourth of July will begin with the SCV Rotary Club’s annual Pancake Breakfast in the Roger Dunn Parking lot on Main Street, from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Meals are $4 per person.
The Independence Day 5K and 10K will follow the parade route, starting at Newhall Park on Newhall Avenue. The 10K begins at 7 a.m., the Kid K begins at 7:45 a.m. and the 5K run/walk will start at 8 a.m. All participants are required to register with the Santa Clarita Runners at SCRunners.org.
The Fourth of July Parade begins at 9 a.m., featuring Grand Marshall, Jim Ventress, who is the retiring director of the SCV Boys & Girls Club.
Floats, classic cars, horses and military presentations will also be featured.
The parade will run north along Main Street from 5th Street to Lyons Avenue, turn west on Lyons and then north on Orchard Village Road, ending at 16th Street.
Streets closures, which will begin at approximately 7 a.m, are listed below.
- Main Street between Pine Street and Lyons Ave.
- Lyons Ave. between Railroad Avenue and Orchard Village Road.
- Orchard Village Rd. between Lyons Ave. and 16th St.

Westfield Valencia Town Center will host the annual Fireworks Show at 9:15 p.m., set to the music of KHTS AM-1220’s live broadcast patriotic soundtrack.
The Fireworks Show can be seen from a number of shopping center parking lots around the Valencia Town Center.
