For the second year in a row, College of the Canyons Canyon Country campus officials are inviting Santa Clarita Valley musicians to audition for the “Battle of the Bands.”

“We are so excited to once again be hosting this family-friendly event for our local music lovers,” said Dr. Ryan Theule, vice president of the Canyon Country Campus & Grants Development at the college, in a news release. “After the success of last year’s
event we wanted to continue the tradition to try and see which local band could best rock the hills surrounding the Canyon Country campus.”
The event is scheduled to be held Sunday, May 31 from 12- 5 p.m. at the Canyon Country campus Carl A. Rasmussen Amphitheater.
There is no cost to enter the competition or to watch the show.
Keyboard Galleria staff will then select five to seven bands to participate in the competition, according to the news release. A panel of music industry veterans will listen and judge the chosen bands.
An array of cash prizes and music equipment will be awarded to the winner of the “Battle of the Bands,” according to the news release.
KHTS AM 1220 will also play the winning band’s music on the radio.
About 40 bands submitted applications last year, officials said. Seven of those were given the opportunity to perform at the “Battle of the Bands.”
The winner of last year’s “Battle of the Bands” was Out of Ashes.
