The series of student produced, one-person shows will run June 2-3.
Over the last semester, students from the college’s Theatre 188: Solo Performance course have worked with COC theatre instructor and ‘Solopalooza’ co-director Susan Hinshaw to create a series of original performance pieces that are both socially provocative and highly entertaining.
COC ‘Solopalooza’ alumnus Erin Cholakian, who took the ‘Solo Performance’ course in the spring of 2014, is co-directing this year’s production.
“Each of these stories is meaningful and heartfelt and our students are excited to give voice to their stories on an intimate stage,” said Hinshaw. “We have shows about PTSD, highly sensitive people, coming out to family members, and a trans-dimensional pregnancy scandal.
“It has been a privilege to co-direct with Erin, who has taken to solo work like a duck to water,” added Hinshaw. “Students especially enjoy working with a college peer.”
‘Solopalooza’ performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, and Wednesday, June 3, in the college’s Studio Theater, located in the Valencia campus Student Center, Room 130.
Some performances may contain mature language and adult subject matter.
The cost of admission is $5 with tickets available at the door on the night of the event.
