Comics For The Cause Fundraiser To Support Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project

The Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project will host Comics for the Cause, a one-night only event to benefit the nonprofit, which is aimed at providing teens with counseling and outreach.

Tickets for the event, hosted on Sept. 15 at the College of the Canyons Performing Arts Center, range from $50-$100, with the top tier tickets allowing access to an exclusive VIP party before the show.

CristelaAlonzo_Car_carouselCristela Alonzo made TV history in 2014, by being the first Latina to create, produce and star in a network TV sitcom, “Cristela,” an achievement which caps a whirlwind year.  She released “Some of the Hits,” her first stand-up CD through Comedy Central, was a viewer favorite as a featured guest host on ABC’s “The View” and will be making her feature film debut in the upcoming Angry Birds movie.  She’s topped several comedy lists in the past year, including “Variety’s Top 10 Comics to Watch,” “Top 10 Comedy Acts to Watch in 2014″ by LA Weekly, Cosmo Latina’s “8 Women You Should be Following on Twitter,” Time Out’s “Comics to Watch,” “Cosmo’s “13 Female Comedians to Watch For in 2014,” and “One of the 50 Comedians You Should and WILL Know” by Vulture.com.  She’s performed at the Melbourne Comedy Festival, the Bonnaroo Music Festival and is a favorite at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal.

1CraigShoemaker_417_082013Craig Shoemaker, is the unmistakably engaging, iconic, baritone-voiced character, The Lovemaster. Maybe you were one of millions who saw him in his decades of successful stand-up comedy. Or you may have seen one of his specials aired on Showtime, HBO, ABC, CBS, NBC and just about every other major network. Perhaps you saw him in a TV show or movie like Parks & Recreation, The Bold and The Beautiful, or in Scream 2? Or maybe you just recognize his voice: Pleasantville, many characters in numerous animated series, and all the voices (and even the title song) for the BBC cartoon, Big Foot, Little Foot.

Maz Jobrani, has been seen on shows like The Colbert Report, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Talkshow with Spike Feresten, “Whitney”, and regularly performs at top comedy clubs all across the country.  He also appeared in recurring roles on “24”, “Life with Bonnie” and “Cedric the Entertainer Presents.” His numerous guest appearances include both popular comaz_jobranimedy and dramatic series such as “Malcolm in the Middle,” “Still Standing,” “The West Wing,” “NYPD Blue,” “Without a Trace,” “ER,” “Law and Order,” and a memorable turn as “The Sikh” in the hilarious 2004 season finale of “Curb Your Enthusiasm and in February 2015, published I’m Not a Terrorist But I’ve Played One On TV.

Randy Lubas, has performed at more than 5,000 shows all across the country, opened J.R.’s Comedy Club, Ventura Harbor Comedy Club and produces the Ventura Comedy Festival.  He’s been seen on Showtime, HBO, Comedy Central and so much more.  Randy will serve as the event’s emcee.
