Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library has scheduled events such as the Santa Clarita Public Library Bag Sale to raise funds for the libraries in the community and a book signing with New York Times best-selling author W. Bruce Cameron.
The Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library is offering a special sequence of events for literary enthusiasts including the Paws to Read Summer Reading Program, which runs until July 26.

The Paws to Read Summer Reading Program is a national program that takes place in libraries across the nation in order to encourage people to read during the summer. Santa Clarita Public Libraries are hosting activities and programming for children, teens and adults.
Various events are scheduled to take place at the libraries, as well as other locations for all age groups. Community members interested can be view more information on the library website
The Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library are an active group of Santa Clarita Valley citizens who value libraries by volunteering, advocating and fundraising to meet the many needs of a thriving public library, according to their website.
Starting Monday through July 18 community members can stop by the Valencia, Old Town Newhall, and Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy branches to attend the Santa Clarita Public Library Bag Sale. Attendants can browse for their favorite titles, fill a Friends of the Library book bag with their finds, and take home the books and bag for $7.
All proceeds from the Bag Sale go towards the Santa Clarita Public Library for new materials and programming. People may also donate their previously-owned books, as the libraries are accepting donations.
On July 17, at 7 p.m. New York Times best-selling author W. Bruce Cameron is scheduled to be at the Valencia Library.
The author is anticipated to discuss his widely popular novels “A Dog’s Purpose,” “A Dog’s Journey” and his most recent, “The Dogs of Christmas.” The first two books are written from a dog’s perspective about life, love and an everlasting relationship with humans.
Cameron is a successful New York Times best-selling author who has written many books including his notable book “8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter,” which was made into a movie.
Dog-lovers of all ages can attend this free event and light refreshments are expected to be served and books available for purchase and signings.
