Members of the Santa Clarita Special Olympics Swim Team were the first to try the slides, which feature a unique launch capsule with a trap door that drops guests into the slide.
One of the pipelines is an open side with an 80 degree vertical drop and the other is a closed slide with twists and turns.
The straight drop ride lasts for about 10 seconds, Carpenter said, while the twisting slide continues for approximately 30 seconds. The two slides are located on Taboo Tower.
“You step into a capsule, hear a heartbeat and a countdown, then the floor drops out beneath you, and your on your way,” she said.
Both slides launch from a platform that is six stories tall, and the longer looping slide is 650 feet long.
Hurricane will also feature Dive-in Movies this summer, every Friday at 6 p.m. in the Forgotten Sea wave pool. Guests can suggest movies for this event via Hurricane Harbor’s Facebook page.
