Thousands turned out to listen to the jazz musicians, enjoy food and dance the night away.
“I love it. I like the event and the community and it’s nice to let the kids run around and listen to music,” said Newhall resident Bianca Johnson.
Dozens came to the KHTS AM 1220 to receive free face painting and temporary tattoos.

“I love Concerts in the Park because I can get cool tattoos and the music is awesome,” said Michael Hyatt of Saugus. “It’s fun to be here with the family.”
Poncho Sanchez’s “influences are numerous, but among the more prominent figures that inform his music are two of the primary architects of Latin jazz – conga drummer and composer Chano Pozo and
trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie,” according to his website.

“Concerts in the Park has good music and it’s a good place to play with friends,” said Megan Dodgen, 11, of Saugus.
Sanchez and his band performed numerous songs throughout the night and kept the crowd dancing till the end of the show.
Concerts in the Parks ends in two weeks with Hollywood U2 and Boogie Knights as the last two artists set for the 2014 season.
