Her first book of the series, “The Book of Cole,” was published in August of 2014 and reached number 52 on the top 100 list for Amazon short reads.
Bedrinana has worked in the William S. Hart District as a school-based occupational therapist for special needs students for nearly nine years and is a mother to two children, ages six and eight.
“We turned off our cable and there were a lot of thoughts in my mind,” said Bedrinana, in reference to her inspiration to write the book. “I also have a lot of nieces and nephews so I wanted to write a science fiction book for kids in their age range.”
Her novel is meant for kids 12-17.
Bedrinana’s book has also been inspired by her travels, she said.
“She has always had an interest in archeology and has had the opportunity to visit such sites as Machu Picchu and the Nazca Lines in her husband’s home country of Peru,” according to her ‘About the Author’ on amazon.com.
Bedrinana’s book follows a pair of twins who are led on adventures by an otherworldly fairytale book.
‘I think (readers) can get a sense of adventure and real science facts from reading the books,” Bedrinana said. “All of the information comes from real scientific ideas that are being studied right now…There’s a thread of truth in everything I write about.”
Bedrinana includes a list of links to websites in the back of each of her books for readers to learn more about the scientific theories and ideas that she discusses.
“The Star of Steele” and “The Book of Cole” are both available as e-books on Amazon.
Bedrinana expects the final book of the trilogy to be published by the summer of 2015.
