The trailer for the new season, released March 8, features Sheila Hammonds (Drew Barrymore), her husband Joel (Timothy Olyphant) and their daughter Abby (Liv Hewson) still dealing with Sheila’s zombie-like disease, which now seems to be spreading amongst other residents of sunny suburban Santa Clarita, and the increasing amount of missing people in the area.

“We need to figure out what caused this so it won’t happen to anyone else,” Sheila says in the teaser.

“We could save the world,” says husband Joel.

In addition to increasing number of police activity around the Hammonds, Sheila’s first victim from season one, Gary, will also make a return to the series in season two – even if it’s just his head.

Last year, KHTS got a chance to sit down with the show’s creator, Victor Fresco, and get an insight into why he chose to shoot in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Fresco grew up in Santa Clarita, and wanted to create a contrast between the “planned sweetness” of SCV with the “craziness” of the show’s dark plotline.

Santa Clarita Diet will return for its second season March 23 on Netflix.
