The artists selected will use photography, painting or sculpture to tell the stories of five women who have positively impacted their communities, focusing on the theme, “Extraordinary.” The deadline to apply is April 15.
Empowering HeArts is the platform to inspire women to be extraordinary parents by giving them the role models they need to keep them focused on the goal of raising successful, well-adjusted children, despite the challenges of being a single parent, according to a SMO news release.
This year’s fundraising event will honor five women whose unique and powerful contributions define “extraordinary” in their field and have life-changing impact in their communities. To do so, SMO is seeking five artists to be paired with the honorees to creatively tell their stories, event officials said.
A panel of industry experts will judge the artwork, and the grand prize winner will be announced at the Empowering HeArts gala event on Nov. 1. The collection of artwork will be featured in a commemorative book describing each woman’s story on semi-permanent display in Santa Clarita after the event, according to the news release.
Empowering HeArts is the signature fundraising event for SMO, and all proceeds from sponsorships, ticket sales and product sales will benefit the programs and services of SMO, helping the organization to continue its mission organized around empowering single parents toward self-sufficiency.
