City of Santa Clarita officials are partnering with the Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation for the Throwdown 2014 Skateboarding Contests Series on Saturday, Oct. 11 at the Santa Clarita Skate Park.

Check-in for the contest will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by a brief warm-up period and the beginning of the competitions at1 0:30 a.m.
Santa Clarita skaters of all ages are invited to register to compete in the competition, and spectators are welcome to cheer on the participants. Skaters aged 9 and under, 10-13, and 14-17 will skate in two main competitions, the Park Jam Contest and the Best Trick Contest.
“The city of Santa Clarita is excited to partner with the SCMAF and provide an opportunity for young local skaters to show off their skills at the city’s state-of-the-art skate park,” said Santa Clarita Mayor Laurene Weste. “Parents, friends and skate fans of all ages are also invited to come out and watch the contest in action.”
The “Throwdown” skate contest will feature two challenging contests, the Park Jam, in which the skater is judged on technical skill, difficulty of tricks, use of course, speed and style, and the Best Trick Contest, where each skater will use one element of the course to attempt their best trick.

Early registration before October 2, 2014 is $15.
Registration will be available after October 2 up until the day of the contest for $25.
