‘Thursdays At Newhall’ To Bring Comedy, Music To Old Town Newhall

“Thursdays at Newhall” is an ongoing opportunity for residents in Santa Clarita to attend free events every Thursday night in Old Town Newhall.

For the month of January, events begin on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, with a special event taking place at The MAIN, titled “10 by 10: Variety Night.”

This free event will feature 10 different performers, at 10 minutes per act, from 7-9 p.m. The genres of pieces being performed include music, film, storytelling, magic, comedy and more. This event by The MAIN is hosted every first Thursday of every month, with each month being different from the last.

Performances in the month of January include music by The New Mexican and Abel Gallardo; comedy by Ernie Stone, Chris Cope and Rachel McDowell; magic by Liam Johnson; storytelling by Mary Margaret-Martinez and Brandon Burkhart; a dance piece by Adam Kerbel; and a short film titled “Yoga Pant Brawl” by PeiPei Alena Yuan.

The following Thursday, Jan. 11, The MAIN will host a free evening of music. The “Note by Note Showcase” will feature music from bands, duos and soloists.

Genres include rock, folk, Celtic, Americana, Blues, Jazz, Country, Western and more. Performances include Full Safari, Sammy Montana and Abby Lyons, and will take place from 7-9 p.m.

On Jan. 18, 2018, the gallery in The MAIN will host a solo exhibit called “Fear and Love” by artist Sept. The exhibit will show highlights from Sept’s “Anti-Graphical” style. Previous works by Sept have been featured in galleries both nationally and internationally.

This event is free and will take place from 7-10 p.m., with light refreshments, entertainment and a meet-and-greet with the artist.

Lastly, on Thursday, Jan. 25, The MAIN will be hosting a free speaker series titled “ARTree Speaker Series with Matt Hernandez” starting at 7 p.m. Featured speaker Matt Hernandez will be sharing his tale of success in the entertainment business as the president of design at CBS network.

Hernandez oversees the design and animation of CBS’s network branding, manages campaigns, and primetime and daytime promos. Matt will share his success story as well as tips and tricks to stay relevant in the design world.

The MAIN is located at 24266 Main Street in Newhall.
