The California Small Business Association has recognized Assemblyman Cameron Smyth for his commitment to job creation and his support of small business issues in California.  The organization awarded Assemblyman Smyth with the highest distinction, Summa Cum Laude, on its 2009 Legislator Honor Roll.

“It’s always an honor to receive recognition from a group like the California Small Business Association,” said Smyth.  “CSBA and its members make up the backbone of California’s economy, and so much of what happens in Sacramento has a tremendous impact on them.  I’m happy that they consider me an ally, and I will continue fighting to provide small businesses with the tools they need to succeed.”

CSBA was founded in 1980 by California delegates to the White House Conference on Small Business.  CSBA advocates on behalf of small businesses at the state and federal level, conducts research on issues and develops policies that support small business development, survival and success throughout California.

“When I look at the state of our economy and the record unemployment that continues to plague California, it reinforces my position that job creation needs to be our top priority this year,” Smyth added.  “Instead of increasing the cost of doing business, we need to encourage the development and retention of small businesses here in our state.  By breaking down some of these barriers, we can help put people back to work and get our economy back on the right track.”
