ATT Classic Brings The Best Golfers To Valencia

Tournament event includes chance for public to get up close and personal with celebs, golf masters.

Starting today, the City of Santa
Clarita will once again play host to the AT&T
Champions Classic Golf tournament. Some of the biggest names in golf, including
Gary Player, Jay Haas, Fuzzy Zoeller, Tom Purtzer, Tom Wargo and Loren Roberts
to name a few, will compete for more than $1.5 million dollars as part of the
annual event at the beautiful Valencia Country Club.

The Classic not only attracts some of the best names in golf
and more than 20,000 spectators, but contributes more than $7 million in economic
benefit to Santa Clarita’s local economy and more than $18 million regionally.
The tournament, broadcast on The Golf Channel, garners regional, national, and international
exposure for the community.

 

Unlike many other professional golf tournaments, the
AT&T Champions Classic allows players and spectators to enjoy a
“behind-the-ropes” experience with some of their favorite players with both the
Pro-Am, Junior Pro-Am, Professional tournaments. Many golf enthusiasts travel
from across the country to catch just a day of tournament play at the
fan-friendly Classic.

 

The Pro-Am and Junior Pro-Am tournaments match community
members, business leaders, and golf fans with their favorite professional for
18 holes. The Pro-Am and Junior Pro-Am are free to attend, allowing community
members to enjoy a trip to the Valencia
course Monday, March 9 through Thursday, March 12, and enjoy great golf, food
and an unmatched setting at no charge.

 

The 2009 AT&T Champions Classic features an evening with
two-time Emmy award winning comedian Louie Anderson at College of the Canyons’
Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, March 11 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets for this
event are still available but going quickly, so prospective guests are urge to
purchase theirs as soon as possible.

 

Professional tournament play begins on Friday, March 13,
continuing through Sunday, March 15. Individual tickets are $15 each and ticket
packages are still available for the tournament through the Boys & Girls Club
of Santa Clarita at ChampionsClassicTickets.com or by calling directly at
661-254-3303. Guests may also purchase tickets the day of the event at the
gate.

 

Event parking is available at College of the Canyons with
continuous shuttle service to and from Valencia Country Club. Daily parking is
$5 per vehicle and a weekly parking pass is available for $10.
