Traffic on the I-5 was stopped in both directions shortly
after noon today/yesterday so sheriff’s
deputies and FBI agents could arrest a suspect in an attempted murder from the
City of Industry.
According to scanner reports Bruce Alan Candia, 27, was
spotted by FBI agents near the I-5 at Lyons Avenue around 12:30 p.m. Deputies
were asked to conduct a felony stop if the suspect started traveling on the
freeway in his white Nissan Sentra. The sheriff’s department was able to pull
over Candia’s vehicle on the northbound I-5 near the
junction of Highway 126 and the suspect was arrested without incident and
booked at the Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s station.
According to Lt. Scott at the Industry Station, the case is
being handled by the Sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau/Family Crimes.
Sgt. Gary Parker of the SCV Station said that the FBI and
the Los Angeles Police Department had assisted detectives in tracking Candia
to the location.
