Deputies arrest armed burglary suspects in stolen vehicle.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Deputies Dorman and Christensen of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station's Community Interaction Team (CIT) spotted a vehicle in the 24300 block of Newhall Avenue and immediately recognized it as matching the description given in a burglary incident that occurred earlier in the day in the 27300 block of North Evi Lane, in Canyon Country.
When the deputies attempted to detain the men, two of them jumped out of the vehicle and ran, allowing the car to roll forward into the curb.
The deputies report that a handgun, which was later determined to be stolen, also fell from the vehicle as the suspects fled. A third person was immediately arrested by the deputies and a containment of the area was established.
Responding deputies, assisting in the incident, located a second suspect hiding in a nearby residence.
The third suspect, described as a male Hispanic, shaved head, 20-25 years old, with a tattoo on the back of his head, is still being sought and will face several felony charges when apprehended.
Several items, which are believed to be stolen, were recovered. Both suspects were booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.
The driver of the vehicle, MH/23, of Castaic faces felony charges of Burglary, Possession of a Loaded Stolen Firearm, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Loaded Firearm with Intent to Commit a Felony and Taking a Vehicle Without the Owners Consent. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia. In addition, he had numerous warrants and is being held without bail.
The youth who was immediately apprehended, MH/17, of Newhall faces felony charges of Burglary and Taking a Vehicle Without the Owners Consent. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of Possession of Burglary Tools. He was transported to Sylmar Juvenile Hall for housing pending future court proceedings.
