An art exhibit featuring the work of an award-winning photographer opened last week at Canyon Theater Guild, and an artist reception is set for Oct. 16, event officials announced Saturday.
The exhibit, called “Beauty of the Earth,” features nature and wildlife photography by longtime Santa Clarita Valley resident Glen Glancy and will be on display for viewing through Oct. 25.
“I love capturing the fabulous landscapes of the west,” Glancy said. “It’s exciting to have the opportunity that this exhibit provides to share those images with friends and community.”
Attendees can expect to see images of Mt. Rainer, Yosemite, Aspen, the Grand Tetons, the California coastline and more.
Glancy’s goal as a photographer is to “share the beauty of God’s earth with others,” according to a news release.
Glancy is an active member of the Santa Clarita Artist Association and the Santa Clarita Valley Photographers Association.
He has a background in music and engineering, and has received five Grammy nominations throughout his twenty-year career of producing jazz, classical and choral artists.
While raising eight children in the Santa Clarita Valley with his wife, Ethelyn, Glancy has been involved in the Boy Scouts of America, church youth groups, junior high and high school choral and instrumental groups, and many music and theatrical performances in the community.
Event officials are inviting the public to meet Glancy and view the exhibit at the free artist reception on Oct. 16 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
The Canyon Theater Guild hours for the exhibit are set for Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Oct. 25.
