‘Be Our Star’ Campaign Launched By SCV Sheriff’s Foundation

logo-scvsheriffsfdnThe Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Foundation recently launched its “Be Our Star” campaign to benefit the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s SCV Station.

Established in 1984, the nonprofit, all-volunteer SCV Sheriff’s Foundation supports the law-enforcement mission in Santa Clarita by purchasing equipment, crime prevention materials, and other much-needed items for the Department as well as for the Civilian Volunteer, Law Enforcement Explorer, and Reserve Deputy Programs at the SCV Sheriff’s Station.

“In 2010, the crime rate in Santa Clarita was the lowest since the City’s incorporation,” noted Captain Paul Becker. “To date, Santa Clarita’s crime rate is 10 percent below that, which is an overall drop of 12.6 percent. The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Foundation’s support is crucial to this significant reduction in crime and helps make Santa Clarita a much safer community for all of us.”

Through the “Be Our Star” campaign, the Foundation aims to raise funds for a new, state-of-the-art, mobile command post that will be permanently stationed in Santa Clarita.

“In 1994, when the freeway fell during the Northridge earthquake, Santa Clarita was essentially cut off from the rest of Los Angeles,” said Becker. “When an event like that strikes again—be it an earthquake, wildfire, or other disaster—we don’t want to depend on equipment that’s based elsewhere in the County. I’m grateful to the Foundation for recognizing this need and stepping up to help us meet it.”

Donors can join the Foundation’s Support Team and participate in assisting local law enforcement. As a way of saying thanks, the Foundation will recognize Support Team members at tiered giving levels:

– One Star Level: $250.00—garners a Membership Packet, which includes a Support Team member plaque, a business display window cling, and a Foundation logo vehicle decal.

– Two Star Level: $500.00—receives a Membership Packet, along with four additional vehicle decals.

– Three Star Level: $1,000.00—earns a Membership Packet, four vehicle decals, and a chrome Foundation license plate frame.

– Four and Five Star Level: $3,000.00 and $5,000.00, respectively—includes all of the above, plus a brass or silver Foundation license plate frame and special Membership kit abundant with additional acknowledgments.
