Two local businesses donate to hospital.
[view:node_ad=5]Pacific Pharmacy Group, parent company of Valencia Pharmacy and Valencia Town Pharmacy, donated several boxes of Beanie Babies to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center as part of their holiday giving for 2007.
Pacific Pharmacy adopted the Providence Holy Cross Emergency Department and all the child patients that come for emergency care.
Pacific Pharmacy cut back costs on their own holiday celebrations in an effort to collect money to purchase enough Beanie Babies to fill four large boxes. “I am so glad that our company and its employees were able to give back to the community in such a positive way that will bring so many smiles to the faces of these young children” states Scott Tyree, Chief Operating Officer for Pacific Pharmacy.
The Emergency Department at Providence Holy Cross treats approximately 1000 children patients a month. “These Beanie Babies often help a young child get through hospital fears, handle medical procedures, or tolerate an uncomfortable test. It is so important to be able to offer some small sign of comfort to a sick or injured child” says Providence Holy Cross volunteer, Kay Radford .
Nearly five years ago the Providence Holy Cross Guild, volunteers who fundraise for the hospital, began giving Beanie Babies to children. This group of volunteers originally began collecting Beanie Babies from their own households and soon the program caught on with donations coming from employees, donors and local community organizations.
