Bear surprises Palmdale woman around midnight.
A motorist from Palmdale struck and killed a bear on the Antelope Valley freeway shortly before midnight Monday.
Ashley M. Harris, 23, was driving her 2004 Honda Civic northbound just north of Sand Canyon Road when she told officers she saw “something dark” and struck the object.
The impact caused the hood of the car to fly up, crushed the windshield, crumpled the hood and lights and left dents in the left front door.
Harris suffered minor cuts to her left shoulder.
It is not known if this is the same bear that had been seen wandering through Saugus neighborhoods over the weekend.
