Antonovich moves to support amendment to the Post 9-11 G.I. Bill
California veterans heading to college could receive federal help toward their higher education goals in the coming months. Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich introduced a motion supporting legislation to allow California veterans to receive college tuition under the Post 9-11 G.I. Bill. The Veterans Educational Equity Act, sponsored by Congressman McKeon, permits California veterans to use up to the full $6,586.54 benefit to offset tuition and fees.
“This vital legislation will give California veterans the same rights as those in the other 49 states,” said Antonovich.
If approved by the Board of Supervisors next Tuesday, the motion will direct the Executive Officer to send a five-signature letter of support to the County’s Congressional Delegation, the Education and Labor Committee, and the Armed Service Committees expressing the Board’s full support of the Veterans Educational Equity Act.
