Young women in grades 5-12 are invited to The Betty Ferguson Foundation’s (BFF) Youth With A Voice program’s (YWAV) last two summer drop-in gatherings scheduled from 1-3 p.m. on July 21 and August 4.
The July 21 meeting’s topic is “Your Quiet Space” and a yoga instructor will be present to help attendees learn how to relax despite hectic schedules. On August 4, in preparation for the school year, a personal shopper and image consultant will be present to help the young women identify and achieve their personal style.
YWAV provides an opportunity for young girls to learn more about themselves and growing up in today’s society. The group’s mission is to train in leadership and community service. BFF provides a place to meet and talk about what it means to be a teen, learn about setting boundaries, develop appropriate values, and strengthen leadership skills.

At the July 7 meeting, BFF Board Member Janine Jones gave a seminar on non-verbal communication focusing on unconscious body language.
“The goal that was mutually agreed upon by the girls was to adopt a positive body stance to appear more friendly and approachable in public, therefore enabling the possibility of meeting new people, and making new friends in any situation they find themselves in.” said Jones.
