Early afternoon incident takes hours to clean upAt just before 12:00 Wednesday afternoon, two trucks got into an accident that prompted the full closure of the I-5 northbound just north of Castaic.
According to the CHP, one truck approached a slower moving vehicle, and for unknown reasons rear-ended it.
The accident caused the rear axels of one of the tractor trailers to come off completely and the actual truck to become engulfed in flames.
Caltrans workers and the CHP were working diligently to get some lanes opened, which they were able to do shortly after the crash. The number four lane had to remain closed for a few hours longer.
Only minor injuries were reported from the scene.
