Residents huff and puff their way to work.
If ever there was a motivation to live close to where you work, this would be it! Bike to Work Day was today in Santa Clarita, and it saw many take to the streets by way of two wheeled transport.
There were several “pit stops” set up throughout town, and they were offering giveaways and refreshments to riders on their way to work.
For those who decided to attempt getting to work by way of bicycle, the city’s wealth of trails and bike paths provided many safe ways to get there.
Also, businesses around town were challenged to get their employees to bike to work.
“We had, as far as we can tell, over forty riders,” said Marlee Lauffer of Newhall Land, who competed in the large business category.
Lauffer said that there were even two people who biked to work from the Antelope Valley. This is done via a mix of public transportation and bicycling.
