Bladder Problems Not Necessarily Age-Related

khts_healthAre bladder problems in woman a normal part of aging?

For those who do not wish to read this editorial, the short answer to this question is, absolutely not. Women who either urinate too frequently and urgently or cannot even hold their urine and have unwanted accidents are not experiencing normal aspects of aging.

khts_editorial5blurNot only are such bladder conditions abnormal, but they should be evaluated and treated.  Frequent urinators are at much higher risk for falls, especially at night when it’s dark.  And, like those who have urinary accidents, urinating more than eight times per day is associated with an increase in urinary tract infections.

At the Bladder Wellness Center (www.bladderwellness.com), we understand that from teen age years through senior years, women have been wrongfully taught by our society that pads are always the answer, that they should become very familiar with the “feminine pads” aisle at their local drug store.  Not true.  Pad usage for loss of urinary control is unfortunately an efficient way for bacteria to grow and cause infections in the genital and urinary tracts, as well as causing all sorts of skin problems, including secondary skin infections.  And, of course, let’s not forget that the cost of wearing multiple pads per day can really add up!

Stop using the pads. You can be dry again. At the Bladder Wellness Center, we will determine the cause of your loss of urinary control so that typically the treatment for this problem can take place in less than an hour.  Countless women, who have been treated at our center have only regrets that they didn’t come sooner, that they suffered with their problems far too long.

The Bladder Wellness Center is staffed by Drs. Michael Hyman and Philip Weintraub, highly respected urologists in the field of bladder control.  They offer personalized, effective treatment not only for problems of frequent urination, but also incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.  They accept Medi-Cal and most insurance plans.
