At approximately 5:15 Thursday morning, a passing motorist saw a body lying on the side of the roadway next to the guard rail on Angeles Crest Highway at mile marker 27.50.

Although detectives found ballistic evidence at the scene, the nature of the victim’s injuries are unknown at this time.

Los Angeles County Coroner personnel will determine the victim’s identity and cause of death.

Missing person Gavin Smith, the Twentieth Century Fox executive missing since he was last seen in Oak Park on May 1, has been ruled out as the victim in this investigation by authorities.
