Annual event raises awareness, funds for local Boy Scout efforts.

Five people were honored for their leadership and
contributions to the community Saturday night at the 3^rd Annual
Leaders of Character dinner.

A fundraiser for the Boy Scouts of American Bill Hart
District, the dinner celebrated the works of Santa Clarita Mayor Bob Kellar, developers
Larry and Peggy Rasmussen and philanthropists Jacquie and Harold Petersen.

All five are active with charities in the community, most
notably the SCV Boys and Girls Club, College of the Canyons and the Child and Family
Center, where they serve as
directors or provide financial support.

The event was spearheaded by Arif Halaby of Total Financial
Solutions.

Previous honorees include Gary and Myrna Condie, Kevin and
Marilyn Malone and Larry and Sue Mankin in 2006 and Jim Ventress, Carl and Jeri
Goldman and Dianne and Roger Van Hook in 2007
